Shaheed Sharif Osman Bin Hadi (1993-2025)
Early Life & Family
Sharif Osman Bin Hadi was born on 30 June 1993 in Nalchity Upazila, Jhalokathi. Born to Maulana Abdul Hadi and Taslima Hadi, he was the youngest of six siblings. He grew up in an environment shaped by faith, discipline, and community service.
Education & Academic Career
After passing his Alim exams at Jhalokathi N S Kamil Madrasa, he joined the University of Dhaka (Political Science) in 2010. He later worked as a lecturer at the University of Scholars, earning recognition as a principled teacher.
Entry into Activism
Following the July Revolution, Hadi co-founded Inqilab Moncho, a platform advocating for accountability and systemic reform. He became a central figure in post-revolution political discourse.
Role in the Revolution
As a coordinator in Rampura, Dhaka, his speeches on "INSAF" (justice, accountability, dignity) went viral, helping define the moral and ideological language of the youth movement.
Political Campaigning
Hadi announced his candidacy for the Dhaka-8 constituency for the 2026 general election. He organized grassroots meetings and van rallies, focusing on anti-corruption and transparency.
Anti-Hegemony & Sovereignty
He vocally opposed external political influence, particularly from India, calling for a "justice-based sovereignty." He advocated for revising bilateral treaties and banning the Awami League.
International Attention
Hadi drew international attention and criticism after reportedly releasing a map of a "Greater Bangladesh." This solidified his reputation among supporters as an uncompromising critic of regional geopolitics.
The Assassination
At 2:25 PM, Hadi was shot in the Paltan area of Dhaka by assailants on a motorcycle after leaving a mosque. He had previously reported receiving death threats.
Final Days & Death
After being treated in Dhaka, he was airlifted to Singapore General Hospital on Dec 15. He succumbed to his injuries on 18 December 2025, at the age of 32.
Shaheed Osman Hadi
Now referred to as Shaheed Osman Hadi, his writings and stance continue to influence youth movements. His assassination has intensified public discourse around political violence and dissent in Bangladesh.
